1999–2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty: identify the headlamp assembly first
The F-250 Super Duty has earned its reputation on hard jobs and long hauls. Across more than two decades, however, its headlight design changed from one generation to the next. This guide keeps the question focused: which factory halogen headlight bulb reference should you verify before choosing a Luxster LED upgrade?
Ford F-250 Super Duty LED headlight bulb-size roadmap
| Model years | High Beam and Low Beam Headlight | How the layout works | Luxster starting point |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1999–2004 | 9007 / HB5 | One dual-function bulb handles high and low beam on capsule-equipped trucks. | Luxster Ultra — select 9007/HB5. |
| 2005–2016 | H13 / 9008 | A combined high/low-beam bulb; verify the H13/9008 marking. | Luxster TrueFit X Pro — select H13/9008. |
| 2017–2020 | H13 / 9008 on halogen capsule headlamps; some LH Asymmetry assemblies use H7 low beam + 9005/HB3 high beam | Identify the headlamp assembly before purchasing: combined-beam and separate-beam configurations require different choices. | Luxster Dracarys — choose the confirmed H13/9008, H7, or 9005/HB3 option. |
Capsule headlamps versus sealed-beam units
Some early F-250 Super Duty trucks may use H6054 or 6052 sealed-beam headlamps. These are complete lamp units, not standard replaceable-bulb positions. Do not order a 9007 or H13/9008 LED bulb unless the truck has a compatible capsule-style headlamp assembly.
Plan the LED upgrade around the headlight layout
For many 1999–2004 trucks, 9007/HB5 is the key capsule-bulb reference. From 2005 onward, H13/9008 becomes the common combined-beam reference. Certain 2017–2020 LH Asymmetry assemblies instead use H7 low beam + 9005/HB3 high beam. Do not substitute a combined-beam bulb for a separate-beam layout, or vice versa.
Three checks before checkout
- Confirm whether the truck has a capsule-style or sealed-beam headlamp assembly.
- Read the size molded or printed on the removed headlight bulb before ordering.
- For 2017–2020 models, verify whether the housing uses one combined bulb or separate low- and high-beam bulbs.
The Luxster takeaway
For the 1999–2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty configurations covered here, the correct LED upgrade starts with the headlamp assembly. Verify whether the truck uses 9007/HB5, H13/9008, or the H7 + 9005/HB3 split layout, then select the corresponding LUXSTER bulb variant for that exact position.
