Your F-150 headlight upgrade starts with one question
Before comparing output or choosing a Luxster series, identify the type of headlamp in your truck. Across the 2004–2022 F-150 range, the key change is not cosmetic—some trucks use one dual-function bulb while others use separate low- and high-beam bulbs.
PATH 1 · ONE BULB, TWO FUNCTIONS
2004–2014 halogen F-150: H13 / 9008 usually serves both high and low beam. Choose one verified dual-beam size.
PATH 2 · TWO BULBS, TWO JOBS
2015–2022 halogen F-150: H11-family low beam plus 9005/HB3 high beam. Plan each position as its own pair.
STOP · FACTORY HID OR NON-REMOVABLE LED
Some 2013–2014 trucks have D3S HID headlamps. Do not treat an HID or an integrated LED assembly as a H13, H11, or 9005 bulb socket. Confirm the original lighting system before buying.
The F-150 headlight timeline
2004–2008: The common halogen layout uses H13/9008 for both beams. Explore TrueFit X Pro and select H13/9008 after verifying the original bulb.
2009–2014: The common halogen layout remains H13/9008. For 2013–2014 specifically, check whether the truck has factory HID D3S rather than a halogen capsule. Luxster Ultra includes an H13/9008 selection for confirmed halogen applications.
2015–2018: On halogen-equipped trucks, the low beam is from the H11/H9/H8 family and high beam is 9005/HB3. Luxster Punisher has both selections; choose each position separately.
2019–2022: The same common H11-family low beam + 9005/HB3 high-beam pattern continues on halogen assemblies. TrueFit X Pro has H11/H9/H8 and 9005/HB3 options to match confirmed sizes.
A three-minute fitment check
- Turn the headlights off and let the housing cool.
- Remove the rear access cover and read the code on the old bulb.
- Decide: one combined bulb or distinct low/high bulb positions?
- Confirm clearance and connector orientation, then select your Luxster variant.
What this guide deliberately leaves out
Fog lights, turn signals, brake bulbs and interior lamps use different sockets and serve different jobs. This is a headlight-only guide, so it keeps the choice focused on the forward-driving beam.
Build the right F-150 setup
For an F-150 upgrade that feels considered rather than guessed, match the existing headlamp architecture first. H13/9008 suits the common 2004–2014 halogen route; H11/H9/H8 plus 9005/HB3 suits the common 2015–2022 halogen route. Once that is confirmed, choose the Luxster series that fits your preferred output and installation priorities.
